Coming into the weekend, I thought we had a good shot at winning one of the 3 races we entered. I was a little disappointed with Lumpy today. While I did not think he had a great shot to win, I thought he would finish no worse than fourth. In hindsight, maybe his effort a couple weeks ago gave us a little false hope. His next race should come against more realistic competition. The latest drop in class did the trick for Dawn Raider. It was gratifying to see the horse who did so well for us last year finally break through this year after taking several steps back in Tampa. Let's hope yesterday's race established the floor and he will be able to compete at this level throughout the summer. No such luck with Tytus - we are already on the ground floor with no where else to drop. While I continue to try to find someone to take him off our hands, it would be nice to see him win one just so he can pay for his stay here at CBY.
Next Up: Darby Lee takes on a field consisting mostly of the foes she beat last week. Once again, the race is scheduled for the turf and I would like to see her hit the lawn. However, since it worked out so well last time, I would not be too upset if the race came off.
2 down, 8 to go....
