A Good Ending

If this was indeed our final race at Tampa, Stumbling Block did what he could to leave a good taste in our month with a well-measured victory. Over the last couple years, he has found the surfaces/surroundings/competition to his liking at Tampa while racking up a total of 6 wins. At this point, my best guess would be that he will return to Pennsylvania for the summer.

As for Oculuna, we will be pointing her to a race on May 9th at Arlington Park in Chicago.

Last Call

When Stumbling Block hits the track on Friday, it may mark the end of an era. While "never" is a powerful word, my guess would be that his race will be the last time we ever run at Tampa Bay Downs. Frequent readers of the blog know that I am quite fond of this track. It is where we had our first win (over 4 years ago) and it is where we have had our most wins and starts. I personally have attended at least a couple dozen days of racing there and would go so far as to consider it our "home" track. As one book closes.....

....As you read with Tom's e-mail this morning, we will be entering Oculuna for what would be our first race at Keeneland. At this point, I would say it is no better than 50/50. First, the race needs to fill and b) we have to make sure it is a reasonable spot for her to run. It is a $100k claiming race and the last thing we need to do with her is run against multiple stakes winning fillies and mares.
